Hi, It’s Andrea! Welcome to my post of this week, where I (the self-proclaimed queen of organisation) give tips on how to declutter our life-physically and mentally.
Your Room- Physical
Firstly, as someone who is a strong believer of your room reflecting your mind, you have to organise your room. Personally, I can’t fall asleep without knowing my room is tidy and ready for me the next day. For example, my clothes are hung up, drinking glasses have been moved to the kitchen and my reminders for the next day have been set. The tiny thing of waking up to the clean room can make such a big difference, more than you probably think; not only does it set your mindset and mood for the day, it also gives you a head start seeing as all your things are ready. To achieve this tidiness I recommend a quick cleaning of your room each night, just to make sure it’s set for the next day. Not only would I recommend this but I also suggest a thorough cleaning of your room every now and then.

Your Room- Physical
Something I’ve noticed is that if you tidy it every night, the deep clean will be less painful meaning it shouldn’t take too long. I’ll be honest, as long as you keep your room maintained, you should only really have to thoroughly clean your room around once a month (maybe less). When deep cleaning my room I like to do the following: donating old clothes, reorganising cupboards and shelves, putting old papers/trinkets/etc in the bin. Overall, deep cleaning my room is just a way for me to have a fresh start by removing unwanted and unnecessary items which also gives me space to buy new things that I currently need.
Your Phone- Physical
Not only is your room a reflection of your mind, your phone is too. This is why I recommend regular going through your phone and deleting things you don’t need. For example: deleting unused apps, old photos you don’t need and even irrelevant notes. Doing this not only helps your storage but it also declutters your phone-something you look at multiple times a day. So, as much as I recommend deleting unnecessary apps I also recommend downloading apps to help you stay productive and decluttered. Personally, I like to use study time trackers, online journals and also apps to keep track of other things (Letterboxd, Goodreads, Airbuds, etc). These apps keep everything in my life neatly organised on my phone in a fun and simple way.
On top of refreshing your phone often, I’d say to do it to your other devices, like laptops and tablets, too.
Your Habits- Mentally
By decluttering these physical aspects that have such a prominent role in your life, I can almost guarantee that your life will become more organised and overall more simple. However, it’s not just about these physical aspects because your daily habits also play big roles on how cluttered your life is. One daily habit that I would say you have to develop is having a to-do list. This is obviously quite basic tip but it honestly helps me so much. I always know what I’m doing fo that week as well as my tasks per day and overall. My to-do list keeps me on top of all my homework and other weekly tasks I have-like my blog! Not only does this declutter my life but I also have daily morning and night schedules, so I always know that I’ve done everything I need to do before I start or finish my day.
These tips are very clearly not brilliant new ideas however I feel like nowadays keeping your life de-cluttered and organised has become so difficult and complicated. So, I hope these simple and easy tips will help you organise your life-even just slightly. I also hope you enjoyed reading this post and if you have any future ideas please let me know!
Hope you come back soon, Andrea x
